What the website health check looks at
Security basics
Whether your website uses HTTPS, whether its security certificate is valid, and whether visitors are sent to the secure version.
Search basics
Your page title and description, main heading, image alt attributes and sitemap, and whether anything is telling search engines to stay away.
Speed
How quickly your server responds and how large the page is, plus Google’s PageSpeed test for phones when it’s available.
Phones
Whether your page is set up to fit a phone screen and, with Google’s test, whether it jumps around as it loads.
We also try to spot what your website is built with, such as Wix or WordPress, so that our suggestions fit.

What this check can’t tell you
It’s a quick look at your home page using public information, so it’s a useful starting point rather than a full audit. It can’t judge your design or wording, or whether your website brings in enquiries, and a good score doesn’t prove that a website is safe from attack.
If your score is high, that’s good news, and you may not need us. Our website maintenance checklist will help you keep it that way.

Website health check questions
Is the website health check really free?
Yes. Cirrus Design Studio doesn’t charge for it, and you can see your report without giving us any contact details. If you’d like help with the results, you can choose to get in touch.
Will the check affect my website?
It shouldn’t. It reads a few public files, as a browser or search engine would. It doesn’t log in, change anything or try to break in.
Do you keep my website address?
No, we don’t store the address or the results. If Google’s speed test runs, the address is sent to Google for testing. See our privacy policy.
Can it tell me if my website is secure?
No. It checks a few visible basics, such as HTTPS and your certificate, but it isn’t a security audit. A clean result doesn’t mean a website can’t be attacked.
Why is my website slow?
Common causes include oversized pictures, too many plugins or scripts, and a slow server. The check shows how your server responds and, when available, gives Google’s speed results for phones.
What if my website gets a low score?
Start with anything marked as needing attention. If you’d rather hand it over, our website rescue service can fix it or move you somewhere simpler.
